Why I prefer WordPress for SEO

I’ve worked across many different content management platforms (CMS) over the years and whilst most do allow the basic SEO functionality to be editable through the backend, WordPress is by far the most SEO friendly platform to use when it comes to optimising your site.

Having worked on many different sites, I’ve found WordPress to not only be more flexible to use than other CMS platforms like Umbraco, Sitecore or a custom bespoke platform, but WordPress is also the perfect SEO toolkit. Most of the changes can be done internally, saving a huge amount of development resources, costs and time in the process.

Some of the SEO functionalty in WordPress has already been configured

However, there are areas that need to be configured in WordPress to make sure your site is optimised and setup for SEO.

Install the right plugins, canonical configuration, SEO friendly URLs and internal linking

Site taxonomy (category and tag pages), breadcrumbs, schema markup, and XML sitemap config

Site security, site speed for both mobile and desktop, robots.txt, disabling unnecessary archives and more.

WordPress is Flexible, Clean Code & Fast

Depending on your theme, I’ll review and carry out all the necessary checks and configurations to make sure your site is built and optimised for search.

Built with Speed

It’s imperative to make sure that your site loads as fast as possible for both Mobile and Desktop devices. WordPress is one of the only costs effective and user-friendly CMS that allows you to make all the necessary speed improvements without it costing an arm and leg.

Custom Edits

Not all changes can be made by a plugin to improve SEO, in fact, the more plugins you use the more it can impact site speed. Customising your templates and editing code is flexible in WordPress and can save time and money.
